Old Bush Telegraph

from the Australia Too album.

2017 has been a great year for SHARON BENJAMIN. Right after putting the finishing touches to her brand-new album, AUSTRALIA TOO, she was off touring the country as a support for Hank Williams’ daughter, Jett Williams, wowing old fans and making a stack of new ones. AUSTRALIA TOO is Sharon's second collection of Australian covers and originals, all Australian written, and all telling unique stories about this land and the people who call it home. She arrived home from performing it live just in time to get her new single out, and it's a beauty.

OLD BUSH TELEGRAPH is Sharon's first original release for a while and immediately it's obvious that she's still right on top of her game as a songwriter, with an ear for a great melody and a wry sense of humour. This is an upbeat tune that celebrates Australia's unique version of the rumour mill that we know as the bush telegraph. If it's embarrassing and funny (to everybody else) you'd better believe that everyone for miles around will know about it before you can hit delete on your Facebook account, because "more than just the good news travels fast on the old bush telegraph."

As is the hallmark of Sharon's releases with Redbak Recording Studios, which she co-owns with hubby, Mark Hillier, the playing is top notch and the attention to detail on the production side of things is first class. It'll make you smile and tap your feet at the same time. Hard to ask for more from a song these days.
