from the The Bottle EP.

NOELEEN SMITH, who grew up in Charters Towers, North Queensland, has been singing since she was a child competing from a junior right up to a senior at Country Music Festivals all around Australia.

“My first musical influence was my Dad who would sing songs from a variety of artists from Merle Haggard to Charley Pride amongst many more. He had 5 daughters and we would all sit and watch him sing and play his guitar for hours. I wrote my first song over 20 years ago and realised it was something I enjoyed doing. Finally, after over 25 years of competing I thought it was time I did something with my songs so I spoke to a local producer MICK LOCKHART from Parkway Studios in Townsville which is where I now live and started the process in making very first EP.

I wrote BEYOND BLUE EYES about a friend who was battling depression. The inspiration came when she told me a story of something that happened after celebrating Australia Day 2 years ago with family and friends. A young, aspiring footballer with a huge future in this sport, seemed to have a great time but later that night took his own life which totally sent my friend on a downhill spiral of depression and guilt. If only she had known she could have helped but sadly so many suffer in silence and it is hard to open up about the pressures of life.

BEYOND BLUE EYES imparts the message that you are not alone and to reach out and talk about your feelings. Know that there are many others who understand what you’re going through and that there are better days ahead. The response to my song has been nothing but amazing and if it helps one person not to make the wrong choice it is a win to beating this illness.
