City Lights

from the Easier In The Morning album.

CITY LIGHTS is the latest tale of heartache from multi-award-winning, Melbourne singer songwriter RICK HART. Fresh from the success of his debut EP, SPIRAL, and winning the 2014 Australian Songwriters’ Assocation “Songwriter of the Year” title, he delivers a tale of small town heartbreak, woven together by an infectious melody.

“I could have gone but I’m a simple boy and I know that I would not enjoy those city lights shining in my face”, he reflects throughout the chorus. With luscious female backing vocals, the song soars through its chorus, with Hart’s draw to a strong melody ever present.

From the outset the song makes no attempt to hide Hart’s love of good old honest country music. With gorgeous pedal steel, honky tonk piano and twangy guitars, he creates an infectious, foot-tapping three and half minutes for his listener.
