The Long and Short of It

Fifty Bucks And A Case Of Beer

from the You Made Me Stronger album.

Fifty Bucks And A Case Of Beer, the new radio single from THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT, is a song based on a true story about a down and out busker on the streets of Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, who sold his hit song to a major record producer for fifty bucks and a case of beer. David and Patsy go for the grit in this track which is off their latest album, You Made Me Stronger. A bluesy, down and dirty tune, the lyrics of which are blue collar to the bone - “God bless the unknown ones who vow to last extremes / given in to life’s misfortunes by sellin’ off their dreams / 50 bucks and a case of beer / trading verses stained by hopes and fears”. This track is certainly twangier than the soft acoustic brushes that make up its predecessor, and also projects a bit of ragtime feel thanks to a dusty, jumpy piano riff that enters in the second verse.
