Gun Shearer

from the Because Of You album.

These are very exciting times for KATHY COLEMAN as she releases the first single Gun Shearer from her much anticipated 3rd self-penned album Because Of You, to be released later this year. After heading back to Dunedoo for a few gigs and talking to a lot of shearers, some retired and some up and coming, the song Gun Shearer was written. It is a true story of the shearers in Australia, first revealing a little bit of history with the record set by Jackie Howe back in 1892, the competitiveness and the stirring that goes on in a shearing shed, and a young fellow that is following his dream of becoming the “Gun Shearer” just like Jackie Howe. Kathy recently returned from Nashville where the new album was recorded with DAN DRILLING, who also produced Kathy’s 2nd album Hot & Bothered. Due to the success of this album, numerous wins and Finalist placings in Music Awards and Songwriting competitions during the last 2 years, Kathy thought it only right to return to the very gifted producer that helped her achieve this success. “Dan totally understands my songs and how I want them to sound, he gets me and my music.” Whilst in Nashville, Kathy performed at the world famous songwriters “Bluebird Café” as well as being the featured artist at the BBQ Caboose Café Lynchburg live radio broadcast into Shelbyville, Tennessee with Paul Jones. Kathy has recently also been named as a Finalist in the 2013 Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards at Mildura in the “Heritage Track” category with Dunedoo Station, the most successful song from her Hot & Bothered album. Kathy Coleman is a very gifted singer/songwriter who is here for the long haul and she is sure you are going to love her forthcoming new album.
