Greg Champion

Mercy Lord, Where Is The Melody

from the A Whole Different Story album.

Known for his cheeky approach to country music, GREG CHAMPION dwells on the humorous side of the Country fence, evident by the songs Sensitive New Age Guys From The Bush, I Made A 100 In The Backyard At Mum's and May Your Fridge Be Full Of Coldies. Now, Champs has A Whole Different Story to tell on his newest 25th album and A Whole Different Story is as Country as any album Greg has made – since his first in 1990. Recorded in Brisbane with MICHAEL FIX, continued in Melbourne, and finished in Sydney at GARTH PORTER’s studio, the themes and settings of A Whole Different Story include Innamincka, Waukaringa, the Torres Strait Islands, Tassie, Cloncurry and a Murray River paddlesteamer. Released and launched at this year’s Gympie Muster, the first single from A Whole Different Story is the extra cheeky Mercy Lord, Where Is The Melody. This loud hard-rockin’ mischievous boogie song fires a direct shot across the bows of over-Countrified Country Music, where things get a little too Nashville - too many boots, too many hats, cars, bars and Honky Tonks. The ultra-mischievous clip of Mercy Lord, Where Is The Melody, featuring a 12-piece rock band all dressed in ZZ Top beards, hats and sunglasses, will be released in early September.
