Brock Country

Heartland

from the The Year album.

Heartland, the thought-provoking new single for BROCK COUNTRY, is a song about how tough two sides of life can be - on the land and in the city. The battles one goes through when our great country receives no rain and dries up. The other side is life in the city for a person with a drug addiction.

MARK WARD wrote Heartland in memory of his grandfather, remembering him down on his knees in the dry, dusty, cracked paddock, crying uncontrollably as he realised the devastation and thought of not providing for his family. The other side of the song is of a person living in the big city where the rain falls but there are other battles one may face and have to deal with that equal the pain of a drought stricken farmer.

Life in the city for a person with an addiction can be lonely and dark. Heartland is a serious song that realises real life struggles and sometimes we fall. "This is not a game".
